Inner Line Permit in Leh (Ladakh) is required to visit the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Most of the places in Ladakh region are close to the International Borders with China and Pakistan, and authorities want to keep track the record of tourists traveling over there.
So, ILP is simply a document with all your details and places where you planning to visit. It’s important that you carry one and keep it close.
However, for Local Sightseeing in Leh, you don’t need an ILP. But, to visit Nubra, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri you will have to take the permission from authorities.
